Spa Service

In-ground spas looked after with the same care as the pool beside them.

Chapter 01

Why a small spa goes wrong fast

A spa holds a fraction of the water in the pool beside it, and it runs warm. Warm water uses up sanitizer quickly, and a few people soaking in a small volume can change the chemistry in a single evening. That is how a spa that looked fine on Monday ends up cloudy by the weekend.

The shell is small, so a film builds at the waterline, the filter takes the load of every soak, and a skimmer basket fills in no time. Where a spa spills into a pool or shares its equipment pad, a problem on one side often shows up on the other.

The same visit, sized to the spa

Zach is a certified swimming pool technician, License # T5450, and in La Jolla he takes a spa through the same visit he publishes for the pool. He checks the chemical balance first and puts the chemicals in last. In a spa that order matters even more, because a small volume swings further with every adjustment.

Between those two ends the work is hands-on. He turns on and examines the equipment, skims the surface, brushes the walls where the waterline film collects, and empties the skimmer baskets. Where the spa has a D.E. filter or a salt system cell, those are recharged and cleaned on the same terms as for a pool: if applicable, and as needed.

Moving parts get their turn as well. Zach lubricates o-rings, unclogs impellers and adjusts valves, and a spa leans on its pump and filter every time someone sits down and turns on the jets.

Chapter 03

Between visits, tell Zach what you see

Because a spa changes quickly, the useful signals are the ones you notice yourself: water that has gone cloudy or foamy, a film at the waterline, jets that feel weaker than they did, or a pump that sounds different.

If you have had a crowd in the spa or a run of hot days, say so. A call to (619) 678-2240 on a weekday between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm is how you reach Zach, and he can tell you whether the next visit will catch it or whether it needs a look sooner.

Zach's Pool Service specializes in service and repairs for residential in-ground pools and spas. Call (619) 678-2240.

A spa seldom stands alone. It usually runs alongside weekly pool service, leans on the same pumps and filters covered under pool and spa repairs, and lives or dies by its water chemistry. To set up a visit, send Zach a note.
